Carmin.D

Biography

Born in Portugal in 1973, Carmin.D moved to the south of France five years later to settle in Toulouse with his parents. His career path has been that of a low-key craftsman of warm, funky, and sensual electronic music, which he himself sums up with the simple phrase "House music for adults". He developed a keen interest in music at age 11, bought his first record, and discovered electronic music five years later. Marshall Jefferson, Santonio, and Frankie Knuckles were on constant rotation on his turntables: that was the spark that ignited his passion for mixing and DJing. At 18, he landed his first DJ gig at a rock club, then moved on to a general-interest club where he honed his technique for several years before landing his first bookings and releasing his first productions: he officially became a producer and composer at the age of 22. In 1997, he joined other artists on stage and created his first live act, Natural Sound Experience (NSE), which he performed at various venues across Europe. He then produced funky and sexy tracks under the name Sound Deluxe. In collaboration with composer and musician Madji-k (a leading figure in soulful house, whose work has been released on labels such as Henry Street, Nervous, and Vulture), he produced a 12-track album under the name The Creamynals, a highly sensual house album released on NINE09 Recs in Australia. His sound is rooted in jazz, funk, and disco. The blend is subtle, and the swing is almost constant. His motto remains simple: make music for people. Following projects such as Lisbon Lovers, For Your Pleasure, and the concept mix Sarah’s Dancing (inspired by the underground clubs of New York and Chicago), Carmin.D has continued to produce music on a regular basis. He is best known for the album "Audio Pass" (2021) and a series of recent singles such as "The Night", "Maybe Funk", "Answer Machine", "It’s More Than Love", the "ODE" series (Dreaming, Loving, Smiling, Flying, Waving), and "Just Say". Carmin.D composes intuitively, drawing on the high points and low points of his life. For him, music is a form of therapy: he weaves a fragment of his existence into it to share it with the listener.
